Angel Beats! (with TK’s Story)

Image

Angel Beats is one of the funniest and saddest anime I’ve ever seen. Although it didn’t make me cry as much as Clannad After Story did but it made me laugh so hard. It’s a 13 episode anime, it’s really short so you should watch it. There’s action, romance, tragedy, and comedy (my favorite genre).

In this anime, Otonashi awakens to learn that he is dead and can’t seem to remember anything about himself besides his name. A girl with a rifle, Yuri, explains to him that he is in the afterworld. Yuri is the leader of the SSS (Afterlife Battlefront) who wages war against a girl names Tenshi (Angel). Otonashi joins the SSS and tries to make peace with Tenshi. He finds himself being drawn to her. While trying to regain his memories, he discovers the truth about the afterlife.

Image

One of my favorite characters is Iwasawa. Although she only appeared in the show for a short time, she was awesome. I love the way she played the guitar. It really showed how much fun she’s having. Her songs are amazing too. She’s in the band called Girls Dead Monster (GirlsDemo for short). One of the things that I love about Angel Beats are the songs. They’re so touching and I love listening to them. One of my favorite songs are My Song, My Most Precious Treasure, My Soul Your Beats, and the Brave Song. I especially love playing Brave Song in the piano. Iwasawa was one of the reasons why I started playing guitar again. I just really love her. When she sang My Song, it really left an impression on me.

Image

Hinata and Yui are my favorite pairing in this anime. They argue a lot, they fight a lot, but you can really tell how much they care about each other. They’re the funniest pair in the anime. The way they fight is so funny.

Image

The Yui Disappearance Scene was the saddest moment for me. The way Hinata confessed his feelings for Yui was so touching. When Yui said that nobody would want to marry her because of her disability, Hinata argued and said that he would. Hinata said that even when she can’t wal, she’ll love her. He even made up a story of they’ll meet in real life. Since Yui is always in bed, it’s gonna be hard for them to meet. But Hinata plays baseball, and one day Hinata’s gonna hit her window with the ball and then he’s gonna have to go inside to retrieve it. Then, they’ll meet. That story is so cute. I literally cried in this scene.

Image

So a lot of people (including me) think that Angel Beats was too short. Not all of the characters’ past were explained. And then everyone was like, “What is up with TK?” I found him weird too at first until I read his story. I’m not 100% sure this is true.

TK’s Story:

He was an American citizen who fell in love with the daughter of a Yakuza boss. When the Yakuza boss found out, he kidnapped them both and threw them in the cells underground. Their cells were right next to each other, but it is heavily soundproofed that neither of them knew they’re so close to each other. They starved for one week and were then taken out. The girl’s father told TK that he had to dance. If TK stopped dancing the girl would lose a part of her body one by one: toes, then finger, then legs and arms. TK danced for five days without sleep until his body was unable to move. His girlfriend died by the end of the week. TK was then tortured to death, his death drawn out over the course of one month. When TK appeared in the afterworld, he lost his entire memory, remembering only the first English sentence his girlfriend had ever learned, “I Kiss You.”

True or not, the father’s crazy. I mean killing his own daughter? Why?

This anime’s ending was really good honestly. I like it when shows leave you hanging cuz it lets your imagination run wild. You think of what will happen next. But I do wonder what happened to them but I like the way it ended. I’m not complaining. I think the way it left you hanging left an impression and it’s hard for you to forget.

All in all, I like the anime. Some of you might not like it, but my opinion won’t change. \(^_^)/ -R!n

Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club

Image

Summary: The story revolves around Nanase Haruka, a boy who always loved to be in the water. In elementary school, he participated in a swimming tournament along with his friends, Tachibana Makoto, Hazuki Nagisa, and Matsuoka Rin. They went on their separate ways after winning. Time passed and high school came when Rin challenged Haru. Haru gathers together Makoto and Nagisa and a new guy named Ryugazaki Rei and created the Iwatobi High School Swim Club to defeat Rin.

Image

I’m a fan of sports anime and I like this anime because, well, just look at them. They’re gorgeous. To be honest, I can’t swim and I’ve never really been a fan of the water. I don’t like the cold too much. After watching this, I’ve never enjoyed watching people swim before and I never thought I would. I like how they swim, it looks so pretty. I especially love it when they dive, especially Makoto when he does the backstroke. My favorite kind of stroke is the butterfly stroke 🙂

Image

I seriously love Rin’s sister, Gou. I love her reaction whenever he sees the guys in their swimming attire. This is basically me when I see them. Like seriously, does every swimmer in this anime have abs and triceps? I’m pretty sure anyone who’s seen this looked at their abs, it’s usually the first thing people notice (it was the first thing I noticed :P). Gou doesn’t like her name because it’s a guy’s name. She usually prefers to be called Kou but everyone calls her Gou anyways. Personally, I prefer Gou.

Image

*I’m sexy and I know it starts playing in the background* Look at that! lol But that’s not the only thing I like about the anime though. I also like Makoto (the one of the left of the picture above.) I like the way he swims, I like his concern for everyone, I love his eyes! He looks at you with that look of concern and care. What I love the second most after his eyes, is when he dives. It’s like his body stretched out, it looks so neat. *fangirling*

Image

I didn’t really like Rin’s attitude towards them in the beginning but towards the end, I started liking him. He looks mean and all but he’s a pretty good guy. And then there’s Haru who’s like married to the water. Seriously, when he sees a pool, he won’t hesitate to take off his clothes and start swimming. No worries, he wears his swimming attire underneath his clothes. Haru only likes to swim freestyle, Nagisa swims the breaststroke, Makoto swims the backstroke, and Rin and Rei swims the butterfly. These are their strokes during the tournaments. Of course, they can also swim other strokes too, except for Rei, he can only do butterfly.

If you haven’t seen this, you should watch it. It’s really good. You don’t have to watch it for their abs, you can watch it for the swimming or plot too. After watching this, it gave me the motivation to swim…. But I still don’t know how so I’ll just stick to watching 😛 -R!n

Kyoukai no Kanata First Impressions

Image

Ok, this girl above here is super adorable!!! The only reason why I started watching this anime is because of her. But that doesn’t mean the anime is bad or anything, it’s really interesting so far. I’ve only seen the first episode and so far, I really like it. It’s confusing in the beginning and I’m pretty sure it’ll all make sense later on. But anyways, isn’t this girl cute? It’s like her nose is saying, “Glasses, go here.” Her name is Kuriyama Mirai and she’s the clumsy megane type.

Kanbara Akihito is a half youmu. Mirai is a Spirit World Warrior with the ability to manipulate blood. When they met, Akihito was trying to stop Mirai from committing suicide and the first thing that Mirai does is stab him. But since Akihito is a half youmu, he’s immortal. So everyday Mirai’s been stabbing him over and over, using him as a practice dummy. It’s hilarious.

Image

I laughed so hard when she said this. Mirai was chasing Akihito and when Akihito threw a bucket at her, she was forced to slice it in half before it hit her. You should see her face when she sliced the dust pan in half. She sounded like she just broke her most prized possession and when she stabbed Akihito, she didn’t even flinch. I can’t get enough of how adorable she is! Her famous line is, “How Unpleasant.” I don’t know why she says that but she does. When Akihito told her how he loves girls with glasses, she said, “How unpleasant.” And she says it a lot.

Image

And then there’s also this. Idols? Singing? Dancing? I thought this was a fighting anime. I haven’t reached this episode yet but I saw this scene already. It seemed like they were trying to kill a youmu. My reaction to this was, “Woah, pretty…” The girl in the middle has a cute voice but I have yet to meet her in the story. But this scene encouraged me to watch the anime.

Image

Then we have her, Mitsuki Nase. She’s Akihito’s childhood friend and the president of the Literary Club. She displays a bit of a sadistic personality. She teases Akihito a lot which is one of her comedic properties. Her cold demeanor was apparently influenced by her sister. Mitsuki also has an older brother named Hiroomi. I have yet to meet him but I know that he has a sister complex and he and Akihito agree that glasses do look nice (I agree to btw :P). Hiroomi wears a scarf around his neck and I don’t know why yet. But I will soon.

If you haven’t seen this already, you should watch it because it’s funny, cute, and exciting. I really like Mirai. She’s my favorite character at the moment. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’mma go watch Kyoukai no Kanata. Oh and PS. my background picture is from Kyoukai no Kanata 😀 -R!n

Death Note

Image

Death Note is an amazing series. I personally LOVE the plot. They put so much detail into it. I got my two brothers to watch it. It took them a while but they finally finished it. I also showed them the Live Action one which they find kind of weird. lol. It’s cool though, I like it. If you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out!

Summary: Yagami Light is a 17 year old genius from Japan who is bored of his everyday life and is tired of the state of the world as he knows it. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a notebook called the “Death Note” just lying around. Intrigued by its appearance, Light opens it and discovers that anyone whose name is written in the notebook shall die. At first, he discards it as a joke but soon after, his curiosity takes the better of him and prompts him to try the notebook. After discovering that the notebook is real, Light is on a quest to get rid of evil and become the God of the New World. Soon, Light began punishing criminals and his actions were noticed by the world. He is later known as Kira. His goal, however, is blocked by the world’s greatest detective known as L. L is determined to reveal who Kira is and stop him.

Image

In the series, the original owners of the Death Note are the Gods of Death known as the Shinigami. They are a race of extra dimensional beings who survive by killing human to extend their own lives. Shinigami vary widely in appearance, and their bodies are build in ways that would seem impossible by human standards. Shinigami may be male or female and are not permitted to have sexual relations with humans. They can materialize their bodies at will. They are also capable of walking through walls and other objects. Oh, and they can fly too so they’re kind of cool. The only humans that can see a Shinigami are the ones who have touched the Death Note, otherwise they’re completely invisible.

The thing that all Shinigami have in common is the Death Note. They each have one to be able to extend their lives indefinitely. To help them in this, they have eyes that allows them to see a person’s name and their remaining lifespan just by looking at their face. They can give the Shinigami Eyes to the human they possess in exchange for half of that human’s remaining lifespan. For example, if you were to die in 50 years and you make the Shinigami eye deal, then you’re lifespan will be cut in half and you will die in 25 years. That other 25 years is given to the Shinigami you made the deal with.

Wammy’s House is one of the several orphanages established by Quillsh Wammy aka Watari, located in Winchester, England. Wammy’s House was initially a training facility for especially gifted children, the most accomplished of them was L Lawliet. After L became a detective, the goal of Wammy’s House became to produce a successor to L.

L Lawliet (also known as L): One of L’s noticeable features is the heavy bags under his eyes. Being the world renowned detective and all, he doesn’t get much sleep. L always wear blue jeans and a long sleeve white shirt and prefers to walk barefoot, sometimes even in public. L is quite secretive and never shows his face to the world for it might endanger his life. He communicates to people through his assistant and mentor Watari, He also has several quirks. He prefers to crouch rather than sit, he eats lots of sweets, and he hold items with only his thumb and index finger. He is often seen stacking items or food, like sugar cubes and such. L is almost always encountered while performing actions that are considered inappropriate or rude in public, such as biting his fingernails, putting his feet on furniture, etc. L was also the tennis champion in the England Junior Cup and also has some experience in martial arts. Although L explains that most of his unusual behaviors has reasons behind it. He eats a lot of sweets because his brain uses the most calories of any organ in the body. He also says that if he sits normally, his reasoning skills would drop 40%.

Nate River (also known as Near or N): Near is the youngest of L’s two successors and is also one of the gifted children in Wammy’s House. Near has white hair and is only seen wearing a long sleeved white pajama top and light blue pants. Near is intelligent but his childish appearance and demeanor causes others to question his abilities. Near also appears to be ambidextrous. Despite his abilities, Near has low social skills and is bad at interacting with others. Although he often displays a straight face, he will often smirk when getting something right. Near is also often seen twirling his hair with his finger. Like L, Near shows some unusual behaviors. He is usually seen hunched over rather than sitting and constantly plays with various toys, using them as theories. He is often seen hunched on the ground surrounded by toys such as darts, figures, and dices. He also seems to love dice. He would stack them to form a building. It’s rather amazing if you ask me. (I tried doing that and I couldn’t even stack 3!)

Mihael Keehl (also known as Mello or M): Mello is the oldest of L’s two successors and is also one of the gifted children in Wammy’s House. Mello has blonde hair and is usually seen wearing dark leather clothes. While Mello is certainly a genius, the concept of always being placed second after Near fuels the inferiority complex that defines Mello’s character. Mello is willing to do whatever it takes to take down Kira, including kidnapping the Head of the Japanese Police’s daughter and even blackmailing the President of the United States. Mello isn’t trying to capture Kira in the sense of justice but to prove that he is better than Near and a worthy successor of L. Mello isn’t really purely evil. He knows how to apologize. It’s just that he sometimes lets his emotions get the better of him. Mello is often seen eating a chocolate bar, even when talking.

(Influenced by this, I bought 5 Hershey chocolate bars and brought them to school. I would randomly grab one in the middle of class and start eating it. Because of this, I got in trouble for eating in class and talking with my mouth full. And since it was summer, the chocolate melted in my bag so I stopped :P)

Mail Jeevas (also known as Matt): He is one of Mello’s backups. Matt has brown hair and eyes that are hidden behind goggles. He is seen wearing a red and black striped long sleeved top and also a cream colored sleeveless vest. Matt is known as the third smartest child at Wammy’s house, although he is not one of L’s successors. He specializes in technology. Matt is confident but his cockiness is what led him to make a few mistakes. Although his screen time was small, a lot of people love him, including me 😀

Image

If you have to ask me who my favorite is, it would have to be Near. Most people don’t like him because, well he kind of replaced L and everybody loves L. His attitude is also not one of his best features. But I like him precisely because of that. The way he twirls his hair, the way he stacks dice, the way he plays with toys, his posture, I just love it! I got influenced by the three geniuses. I mentioned, Mello’s “eating chocolate bars” influenced me. I also twirled my hair and sat like Near for the past few days and my mom scolded me about it. Because of L, I only touched things with my thumb and index finger for a few hours til it tired me out. I also wore jeans and white long sleeve but then it got cold. I tried going barefoot but my foot got stuck my a thorn. I also tried eating a lot of sweets but I GAINED WEIGHT! So I failed at all of them but it was fun while it lasted hehe.

As you can see, I definitely enjoyed watching this. It has drama and a little bit of comedy. I’m pretty sure you’ve at least heard of it since it’s quite popular. You should give it a shot and hopefully you’ll like it. Give me a shout out on what you think! 🙂 -R!n

Anime Characters that reminds me of Me!

Image

Izumi Konata is one of the main characters of the Lucky Star series. Konata reminds me so much of myself. First of all, she’s a hardcore otaku who loves anime and playing video games just like me. She can be intelligent at times but she hates studying so her grade’s aren’t all that good. I do have good grades but I really hate studying and I tend to pull all nighters and procrastinate like her. Konata is surprisingly athletic although she isn’t part of any clubs because it gets in the way of her anime. I am on the tennis team so I’m average at athleticism but at first glance, I don’t look like the type who can do sports.

Image

Konata also likes to play net games and is on her computer a lot. I’m the same. Sometimes I’d stay up all night on my computer and sleep in the morning. lol. She listens to anime music, goes to conventions, read a lot of manga, is lazy, and sometimes think like a middle aged man, like me! :3 I look up to her.

Image

Tainaka Ritsu is from the anime K-on. She’s the president of the Light Music Club and the drummer of the band. Her personality reminds me of me. She has an upbeat personality and likes making jokes. Ritsu can also be very lazy, like me 😀 Apparently she takes pride in her forehead, like me lol. I have no bangs. Ritsu is also boyish and her uniform is usually never tucked in. I’m pretty boyish and whenever my friends see me wear something girly, like skirts or sleeveless shirts, they act all surprise and make a big deal out of it so I very rarely wear skirts and sleeveless shirts.

Image

As much as I love Ritsu’s forehead, I really love it when she put her bangs down. She’s a different person, in a good way. Makes me wish I have bangs sometimes but I take pride in my shining forehead though!

Image

Sakamichi Onoda is from the ongoing series Yowamushi Pedal. He is a member of the Souhoku High School Bicycle Club, but I don’t ride bicycles competitively. The point is, he’s an otaku and so am I. He rides his bike to Akihabara every week even though it’s so far away. He also watches anime and gets his friend to watch it too. He sings anime songs while riding his bike. I ride my bike to school so I do the same thing. But I only sing when there’s no people around though so I usually ride when there’s not much people. He also wears glasses, I do too. Onoda is quite shy and has a hard time speaking up for himself. I’m the same, although when I’m with my friends, I’m the most talkative.

Image

Kuroki Tomoko is the protagonist of Watamote. She often has heavy bags under her eyes due to staying up too late playing games and watching anime. I don’t stay up that late when school’s going on but on summer break it’s completely different. Tomoko isn’t very sociable which explains me in class. But it’s not because I don’t wanna talk to them, it’s just that I don’t know how to. She is also perverted at times but she’s fairly optimistic. She thinks that it will only take about a month to get a boyfriend. She’s also had a lot of experience in dating in online games, which is what I’m mostly good at. Sometimes even I think I’m popular even though I know I’m not 😛

Image

Madarame Harunobu in the Genshiken series is the most hardcore otaku of the Genshiken memebers. He spends nearly all of his money on doujinshi. I do that too but I did it too much that my mom put all of my earned money in the bank so I can’t spend them T.T He secretly falls in love with this girl and he never has the courage to confess his feelings even after 3 years because he is sure that his feelings have no chance of getting returned. I’m the same. Never in my life have I ever asked someone out because I’m too shy and scared. It’s usually me getting asked out by them, not me asking them out. He looks geeky too, like me 🙂

So yeah, these characters all remind me of me and that’s why I love them. Mostly because most of them are otakus lol Regardless, these characters are also cool. I love Konata’s jokes and her face expressions. I love it when Ritsu teases her childhood friend and how she makes the room lively. I admire Onoda’s passion in cycling. I love Tomoko’s optimism and the way Madarame spends most of his money on doujinshi and anime stuff is kind of admiring. I love it when I watch an anime and I’m like, “Hey look, it’s the anime version of me.” -R!n

BTOOOM!

Image

Sakamoto Ryouta is an unemployed 22 year old who still lives with his mother. In the real world, he may seem like a good for nothing adult who doesn’t wanna work, but online, he’s one of the world’s top players of the combat game Btooom! One day Sakamoto Ryouta suddenly finds himself stranded on a mysterious island with nothing but a bag full of bombs called BIM and a strange crystal embedded in his left hand, with no memory of how and why he was there. But it doesn’t take long for him to figure out why he’s there because when he saw someone else in the island and tries to call for help, the first thing the stranger does is throw a bomb at him, attempting to kill him. Now Ryouta realized that he is now trapped in a real-life version of Btooom! Even as an ace player, it’s hard to play a game knowing that there’s no second lives and when you die, you will remain dead. The only way to get out of that messed up island is to kill seven other people before they can kill you.

Image

I seriously love this anime. It’s so exciting that I finished this in one go, no stopping. It’s crazy but good. It does have some blood and there’s some people attempting sexual stuff but nothing too bad. I’d really recommend you watch this if you don’t mind some blood and dealing with a crazy psychotic kid. The anime seems too short. I wish they’d make a season 2 out of it. They kind of just leave you hanging. I love how in the anime, the weapons are types and there’s different types of bombs. Of course your bombs are limited so you kind of have to steal from other people if you run out.

Image

I did mention a psychotic kid, right? Well he may be a little crazy but he’s my favorite. His name is Kira Kousuke. He’s sadistic and has lack of empathy. He’s like emotionless. I guess he wasn’t always like that. He has a mean and strict father who’s very abusive. Kousuke started pick pocketing and later on began to commit serious crimes such as murder and rape. Kousuke is also a heavy Btooom! player, nearly as good as Ryouta. He and his father got trapped in the island together. One day, Kira kills his father for self defense after his dad abuses him. I think the way he fights is cool and he’s father kind of deserved it.

Image

Then there’s the main girl, Himiko. She’s seriously pretty and hot. Her blonde hair and blue eyes often mistakes her for a foreigner. She is noticeably well-endowed which makes men often lust for her. She carries a stun gun around because she’s afraid of being touched by men. So yeah, she has a fear of guys. She’s even willing to kill herself than lose to a man who is attempting to sexually assault her. She’s pretty cool.

So yeah you guys should watch this. It’s really epic although a bit violent. It’s really exciting and I love the plot! A friend of mine recommended this and it’s kind of hard to please her, so this must be a good anime if she recommends it. 🙂 -R!n
